Where the coalition failed, the CIA hopes to succeed with drone strikes

CIA Drone Strikes

Coalition air strikes against the Islamic State have been considered by most to be ineffective. The idea was that if the airstrikes could be used to cut off supplies and halt the ISIS advances in Syria and Iraq, that the local military would be able to take back territory over time. It hasn’t worked.

The United States Central Intelligence Agency coordinating with the US Special Operations forces are now conducting drone strikes of their own. Rather than supply lines and strongholds, they have been going after high-value targets in an effort to cut the snake of at its head.

According to Fox News, their highest profile known kill has been “Junaid Hussain, a British-born computer hacker who used social media in an effort to inspire homegrown jihadists to commit terror attacks.”
