Could it have been the name it carried or was it the fact this car is one of the first four-door coupe models to make its way to the market? It’s probably a little of both and with this smooth and impressive car, we now have a look at what can be considered one of the most alluring models to make its way to the luxury dealers bearing the name. The newest version of this impressive car showed up at the Los Angeles Auto Show as what will be the 2019 model to give us a look at perfection on wheels.
Here are some of the things we learned:
New Look – While the first model of this car showed up in 2005, this smooth newest version brings the modern style and qualities we expect in 2019 to the market. This is done while continuing to keep the proportions we expect to find in this car and the style we want with the sloping roofline that makes this one of the most alluring cars on the market today.
New Engine – The new look gives us the updated and improved design language, but you can seriously get excited when you see the hood up and notice the amazing inline six-cylinder engine under the hood. This will be the first car to use one for Mercedes-Benz in several decades and it signifies a change for the brand as more models will be offered with this same engine style in the future. The one under the hood of the CLS offers 362 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque to give you more than enough power from this 3.0-liter turbocharged power plant.
Electric Starter/Generator – Adding more power to this smooth car with a 48-volt electric starter/generator makes this car faster off the line and allows you to get into traffic much quicker than you might expect. This item increases the power by 21 horsepower and 84 lb.-ft. of torque, which is where the added power is needed to get you going the way you want. This power is delivered in short bursts to allow the car to be able to reach sixty mph from a standstill in only 4.8 seconds which is certainly fast enough for you to get up to speed in traffic.
More Seats – In the past, the CLS was a car you chose when you wanted a luxury coupe with the benefits of two extra doors and the 2+2 seating arrangement. Now, you’ll have a car that allows you to sit five people comfortably while making use of the 40/20/40 split rear seat that makes this a potential family vehicle for you to drive.
Technology – If you want features to choose from, this car will have them. You can enjoy the air suspension, ventilated and massaging seats, 64 different ambient lighting choices and the ability to charge your phone with the wireless charging pad. The display will be completely digital and you’ll enjoy the comfort and drive in a car that offers you the tech you’ve been after.
Available Soon – You’ll be able to begin to purchase this 2019 model in the fall of 2018 which is when we should see the pricing as well. The new CLS is on its way and it certainly appears to be a car that can easily continue to give you the quality and excitement that will make driving fun and active for you on the roads you drive.
