The winter is when you’ll see the green and blue of this natural wonder, but if you go to this town in the summer, you’ll witness the midnight sun, something people from other parts of the world rarely ever see.
Vadstena was Home to the Royal Family
When you travel to Sweden, you’re in an area where royals did rule at one time. Vadstena was home to the Swedish royal family and many relics from that time remain in the Vadstena Castle. This castle dates back to the 16thcentury and features an old school moat that protected the court from intruders. A gorgeous abbey in the city dates back to the 14thcentury, giving you another historical item to put on your travel list.
Old Meets New in Malmo
You’ll find historic architecture from many centuries ago sitting beside modern contemporary buildings in Malmo. This is the third-largest city in Sweden, and it offers a lot of fun and activity for you to enjoy everything Sweden has to offer. There’s a castle in the Old Town section of the city and 150 different ethnicities linked to the Oresund Bridge that crosses to Denmark. There’s a lot to do and see in a town that does a masterful job of blending old and new.
Check Out the Stockholm Archipelago
The Stockholm Archipelago is an excellent region, but it seems to be a well-kept secret. This area is made of more than 30,000 islands, with only about 1,000 inhabited. You can take a boat to some of the islands and spend the day exploring during your time in Stockholm. The ships traveling the waters date back more than a century and use steam power, which is just one more item that makes Sweden one of the most incredible countries you can travel to during your vacation.
