Kevin Hyundai is going all in with its electric-powered IONIQ5 SUV. First, it received the N-brand, giving it extra performance chops, and now it’s going to get an off-road upgrade. Hyundai recently announced that the IONIQ5 will be offered as an XRT model. Along with some other upgrades, the new IONIQ 5 will get some off-road extras. Take a look at what we can expect when you see this IONIQ 5 at a Hyundai dealership.
What is a Hyundai XRT?
There are several XRT models in the Hyundai lineup. You can find the Santa Cruz XRT, the Palisade XRT, and the Santa Fe with the XRT badge. These all have bolder looks than the rest of the trims in their lineups, with a unique grille and front fascia. The wheels on XRT models are dark and have all-terrain capability, and every XRT has more black cladding and an exclusive rear badge.
What Other Updates Does the 2025 IONIQ 5 Have?
The 2025 IONIQ 5 will arrive at your Hyundai dealership with mildly refreshed features and equipment. Since electric power is continuously evolving, it’s not a surprise that it will have improved batteries. The larger battery gets even larger, growing from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh. This should increase range, although it’s now clear by how much. Currently, the IONQ 5 with the extended range battery can go up to 303 miles before needing a charge.
What About the N?
While we don’t have much information about the upcoming XRT, we do know what to expect from the sporty N version that will join the IONIQ 5 lineup for 2025. If you like to go fast, then this is the EV for you. It has a dual motor setup that powers all four wheels and gets 601 horsepower most of the time. If you activate the N Grin Boost feature it will boost you up to 641 horsepower for a short time.
This IONIQ 5 is all about the fun. It has a dedicated drift mode that will give you enough confidence to swing the tail out if you want to slide. It also has four different driving modes, including an N mode that increases the throttle sensitivity. If you want to conserve the battery, switch to Endurance mode or check out Sprint to unlock maximum power.
Your Adventure Can Go Electric
Whether you prefer to stay on the pavement or you have a thirst for adventure, you will soon be able to find an EV at a Hyundai dealership that will fit. The upcoming IONIQ 5 XRT is still under wraps, but it has all-terrain tires and some style changes that indicate it will be trail-ready. We will have to wait a little longer to get the exact specs, but hopefully, if it’s like the other XRT models in the lineup, it will have some extra ground clearance and a beefed-up suspension to help it tackle more difficult terrain.
