Bored? Try These 7 Wild and Weird Sports

Have you grown tired of the same old boring sports? If so, you’re not alone. There’s a whole range of weird sports to try and see how much fun they can be.

The weirdest sports are being played all over the world. Many of these strange activities combine a traditional sport and another activity into one event. Some of these sports aren’t entirely sports, but other items includes in the mixture, such as chess boxing which combines the challenges of chess and boxing together.

Here are some of the weirdest sports that could be a lot of fun for you to try.

Ostrich Racing

Can you imagine hopping on the back of an ostrich and racing it around like a horse? This is exactly what some Africans are doing. These large birds can reach impressive speeds that make the race exciting. The two-legged flightless birds race around the track with crowds watching. You don’t have to go to Africa to enjoy ostrich racing, it’s becoming popular in the United States, which could make it one of those odd racing sports that you could enjoy.

Toe Wrestling

If you have some amazing dexterity and strength in your toes, you might become a toe wrestling champion. This is one of the weirdest sports in the world, and it’s just as odd as it sounds. Like thumb wrestling, but with toes, two people lock their feet and wrestle using only their toes until one person becomes the winner. When you want something strange and fun to do, this could be the activity for you. Of course, if you’re the winner, some people might think you are part monkey, but you’ll still be the winner.

Underwater Hockey

This isn’t much of a spectator sport, but underwater hockey could be a lot of fun and give you the fun play you want to enjoy. It’s just as strange as it sounds: the puck is on the bottom of a pool, and players must hit the puck into the opponents’ goal using small sticks that look like converted hockey sticks. This is a difficult sport to play, with those players who can hold their breath the longest being the most successful at it.

Zorbing

If you want to play a game in which you’ve turned into the ball, this is the sport for you. It might be one of the weirdest sports you’ll find, but you get to be the ball and learn what that feels like. This sport allows you to get inside a large transparent ball and race down hills, through water, and around obstacles. It looks like it could be a lot of fun, but it also might be a wild ride, especially if you’re not used to being tossed about.

Shovel Racing

What do some people do in winter when they don’t have a sled to ride? They find something else to use to race down hills. In this sport, people ride shovels down an icy hill. As rudimentary as that sounds, the sport of shovel racing became part of the Winter X-games in 1997, which gives you an idea of just how popular and fun it has become. This is one of those sports you can try on your own if you have a snow-covered hill that you love to sled down in the winter.

Sporthocking

Any sport that involves a bar stool likely began in Germany or Ireland; this one began in Germany. The idea is to flip, spin, and slide a brightly colored bar stool in some form of a trick combination, kind of like skateboarding or break dancing. Once the trick combination is done, the player is to sit back down on the barstool as if nothing happened. Sometimes, this can be a painful part of the event. This is easily one of the weirdest sports in the world.

Cycleball

This sport combines the challenges of cycling and soccer into one combined sport. The goal is to score the ball using only the wheels of the cycle and the players’ heads. This sport takes extreme concentration and balance to complete the task and score a goal with the ball. This could be a fun sport to play and watch, especially with the potential of so many players that must perform tricks and turns on their bikes in order to get to the ball, play defense, or score a goal past other players.

These are only a few of the weirdest sports being played around the world. Will you consider playing some of them to experience the fun of something out of the ordinary?
